Less Hate, More Speech, at the International Journalism Festival
The project has been run for over a year and a half by Median Research Centre (MRC), in partnership with the University of Bergen and Central European University in Budapest. On April 6, the MRC team introduced it to journalists, students and media industry representatives.
The MRC team held an hour-long presentation about how the Less Hate, More Speech project was born, how the comment moderation system was developed for four Romanian websites, and what effects we have seen so far. The researchers also explained what trends can be observed after almost a year of moderation on gsp.ro, such as a lowering in the number of total comments, without any decrease in the number of unique visitors, as well as a gradual decrease in the need for moderation.
